With an LLB degree from the University of Stellenbosch, Shaun served his articles of clerkship at Van Zyl Le Roux & Hurter in Pretoria while completing a year of study at the Tuks Law School. Following his admittance as an Attorney in 2013, he was also admitted as a Notary Public, providing him with the necessary qualifications to draft and execute Antenuptial Contracts, Notarial Leases and other specialised contracts. He has been with DFO since 2016.

Shaun is also an admitted Conveyancer and deals with all property-related and Conveyancing transactions/queries including transfers, developments and mortgage bonds.

It is from his legal mentor and father, Terry Mathie, that Shaun learnt about leadership, commitment to quality and surpassing expectations of clients. His past responsibilities and engagements as Selborne College’s head-boy, translate into his community involvement through various charities on behalf of the firm’s Marketing Committee, striving to make a difference in the lives of orphaned and abandoned youth. Shaun serves on the Old Boys Tennis Committee and as a previous member of Business Networking International. He enjoys golf, tennis and paddling down the beautiful Nahoon River, in addition to spending time with his wife, children, family and friends.
